Aga Khan University (AKU) invites applications from July 2, 2012 for its Postgraduate Medical Education Programmes starting from January 1, 2013.


All medical graduates, including those expecting their MBBS final results by end of November, 2012 and are able to submit all relevant documents including valid / provisional PMDC certificate by December 10, 2012 are eligible to apply.


Applications are invited for Residency programmes in following disciplines:

Adult Cardiology; Anaesthesiology; Chemical Pathology; Community Medicine; Clinical Haematology; Diagnostic Radiology; Dermatology; Emergency Medicine; Family Medicine; Gastroenterology; General Surgery; Haematology; Histopathology; Internal Medicine; Microbiology; Neurology; Neurosurgery; Nephrology; Obstetrics & Gynaecology; Operative Dentistry; Ophthalmology; Orthodontics; Orthopaedic Surgery; Otolaryngology / Head & Neck Surgery; Paediatric Surgery; Paediatrics & Child Health; Psychiatry; Pulmonary Medicine; Radiation Oncology and Urology.

As |>er new CPSP guidelines, candidates are required to lake a final decision about their specialty before applying to the programme. Change will not be allowed after induction into the chosen specialty.

A candidate can apply for only one Residency programme at a time. There are opportunities for flexible training programmes.

Adult Infectious Disease; Breast Surgery; Cardio- thoracic Anaesthesiology; Clinical Neurophysiology and Electrodiagnostic Medicine; Critical Care Medicine; Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism; Diagnostic Neuro-Imaging; Fetal-Maternal Medicine; Gynae-oncology; General Surgery; Haematopathology; Interventional Radiology; Medical Oncology; Molecular Pathology; Neonatal Paediatrics; Neurovascular; Obstetrics Anaesthesia; Paediatrics Critical Care Medicine; Paediatric Cardiology; Paediatric Neurology; Pain Management; Uro-Gynaecology & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery and Women Imaging.

A candidate can apply for only one Fellowship programme at a time.

Admission material is also available from the Admission Office, Medical College, Aga Khan University, P.O. Box 3500, Stadium Road, Karachi 74800, Pakistan for Rs. 150/- payable by cash / pay order / bank draft in favour of Aga Khan University drawn on a bank in Karachi, if requesting by post in Pakistan.

The Admission Office is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Admission Test:

All candidates for the Internship and Residency Programmes will be required to write an Admission Test on September 2, 2012 to be held simultaneously in Karachi and Rawalpindi. Details will be notified through the admit card.

There is no admission test for entrance into Fellowship training. Selection will be based on academic qualifications, past experience and interviews.

Applicants selected from training programmes in other institutions must submit a “No Objection Certificate” or a copy of the resignation approved by the supervising consultant before joining.


Only limited accommodation is available ou “first- come-first-served” basis for outstation candidates. AKU does not take the responsibility of providing accommodation to all candidates.
